But apparently I don’t have that movie on my computer, which is a bit ridiculous. Nor do I have Bully, which I also wanted to rewatch. And both are fairly hard to find decent torrents of online. Guess I’ll just keep watching Reno 911 for now.
It’s been about 5 years since I saw Ken Park & I still can’t figure out what I think about it. On the one hand, I think a lot of the sex is gratuitous and doesn’t add anything to the movie (I’m down for sex as explicit as it gets in movies, but it should add to the movie). But I still feel like somewhere amongst all that is a good movie & story.
Take the final scene for instance. What’s being said in that scene is great (“I can’t dream of other places. I can’t picture in my head what they look like. Everything I see looks like here”). If the visual (Peaches, Claude & Shawn having a threesome that, while much more visually appealing, is as graphic as you’d see in porn) was different, I think this scene would be infinitely better.
I get that Larry Clark is gonna do what Larry Clark wants to do, its his art, blah blah blah. But while I think he’s brilliant in some (many) aspects, I think he’s out to shock just a little too much. Kids had a nice balance. I would have liked to have seen this with Ken Park.
Larry Clark may be controversial, but he takes great photographs. Would love to own a copy of Tulsa.
